Posting on SnowFortress - Step By Step


You have some videos or pic sets that you want to share but you have never posted on this forum before and you are not absolutely sure how to go about doing it properly and do not want to break the rules.

Well, if this is your case then I'm going to be sharing some info, screen shots and
a step by step guide on how to share your movies on SF.

First things first. If you have not already Please read through the "Terms" by Clicking Here

Read through it once and read through it again. Familiarize yourself with this and if needed come back
to it often till it sinks in. We will not tolerate posting of Prohibited Content!

Posting of Prohibited Content will result in a instant Ban.

Also look HERE to see what file and image hosts are allowed on the forum.

Your post will be removed, a warning will be issued, a PM will be sent if you post
something not allowed on that list.


Every Movie/Video or Picset Must Include:

• A Decent Name (Obviously)
  
• A dvd cover image and/or a screenshot (Picsets include a couple of images of the set). They must be uploaded to a recommended file host and viewable on the page.
  
• Info on the video or pic set is not required but a nice addition. (Required for Full Movies)
  
• All download links must be coded and be on the list of file hosts we allow.
  
• No Prohibited Content. (I can't say this enough)

Special Requirements for Posting in HD Sections:

• 480p is to go in the regular sections not in HD.
  
• 720p and 1080p videos must include the Video and Audio Details in your post.
  
• You must meet the minimum requirements for Resolution, Bitrate and Bits (Pixel Frame)
  which is posted HERE .

Do not post Link Lists/Folders

They are NOT permitted (the posting of a single file host link that leads to a page
where all the links can be found) All download links must lead to the
DIRECT download file...no redirecting links.

Ok, Since that is out of the way how does one go to post a thread exactly with all these buttons and what not?

Don't know how to code links, Don't even know where to get DVD covers from, Don't know how to create screenshots heck don't even know how to upload to a image host nor make these images viewable.

If this sounds like something you would ask yourself then your in luck as
I'm going to explain how to do all these things.


Alright, well I'm going to start off with the basics.

But first if you do not know how to upload to a file host such as; megaupload, rapidshare, hotfile ect...
Then just visit the site you want to upload to as they will provide information usually on how to do this.





Going to Post a New Thread

First things first right click HERE and select open in a new window or tab. This will bring you to the Video/Pictures section. You then can switch between this tutorial and do what's said here in that other window/tab.

Ok so you have download links to share now so it's time to post the movie. Depending on the type of movie/video that you want to post you will need to post in the proper sub-forum.

As you can see in the image below.

I'm going to be working with a single video entitled Little Caprice - Track Star.
You can check it out HERE.


This is a straight video clip so I would click on the "Straight" section within the "Video Clips" subforum,
and be presented with the screen below.

Click on the button as shown and you will be brought to this page.




You will notice that there is several buttons, options and what not. This is what you will use to edit your post and add codes, Images, Different Text color, different fonts, different sizes ect... ect..



Now what do all these buttons mean and what do they do?
Well, I'm going to walk you through that.


Starting with the Bottom Row. Working from the left to the right. I'm going to include a screenshot with a brief description and the tags will be shown so you know what they look like.

I will also follow up on the images with some notes, useful info, what clicking
the buttons will do when you click preview and what not.



Bold, Italic, Underline & Strikethrough

Alright, to start off we are going to talk about, Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough.




Text here will be bold

Text here will be italic

Text here will be underlined

Text here will have a line through it


Note: You can always do more than one of these with your text.
Such as Bold and underline.

Bold and underline will show up like this.



Inserting Links, Images, Codes & Quotes.

Now we're going to talk about inserting Links, Images (Covers/screen shots/Pics),
Coding Links and Quote.




NOTE: Only live links allowed on the site are for SnowFortress itself all others are to be Non Live Links (coded).

When inserting a image/images for a Picset or Video you will need to upload to a image hosting site and when doing this it will provide links to the image in many forms. Many will already have the forum code with the tags already included which is nice. All you do is copy and paste in the topic box.

Only use the image hosts in the "Recommended Video And Image Hosts" list found HERE
I personally use imagebam and that's what I'm going to walk you through.

Depending on what you are going to be posting you need to include some kind of image to show what is to be downloaded. A DVD Movie requires a DVD cover and/or screenshots. A single video requires Screenshots and a Pic Set requires at least one sample pic, three is a good number for pic sets.

If a image is not provided expect your thread to be removed as soon as a staff member is aware.

If you do not know where to look to get DVD covers for the movie your looking for then google will be your friend. Just type in the name of the movie into the search box and hit "Search".


Note: all download links and other links must be coded or else expect a Staff member to PM you about this, in some cases your post may be removed if other rules have not been followed when posting.

Doing this repeatedly without fixing will lead to a ban.

Note: Quotes are just there if you want to quote some text from elsewhere.

Align: left, center and right.

NOTE: If you want a whole page centered for example you would start off by putting the the first part of the center tag first before anything else, then put in the text for the description and what not then at the bottom
of the page put the other center tag at the at the very end.





Now moving on to the top half of the Buttons.
Starting off with...


Editing Mode, Fonts, Size, Color, Smilies, Undo and Redo




This is what the font will look like as arial

This is what size 24 will look like.

This is what lime green will look like

Note: Again you can combine these as well such as lime green size 24.
Also can do bold, italic, underline whatever you so choose.

Here is a combination of lime green, size 24 with bold and underlined.

The image below shows what the tags would be to do the above.




This is what the smilie in the above image would look like.


Note: You do not have to do smilies at all, this is just a reference to that button.

Note: undo and redo is a wonderful feature that can be quite helpful and save some editing time.


Well, that covers almost all the Buttons. Now since you know
what they are it's time to finish up the posting of this Video.





The Topic Box

We're going to be talking about the Topic box, basically where you will put in the movie/video/pic set information, description, enter codes, tags and what not.


This is What to put in the topic box:

• First you will want to put in the name of the movie/video/picset.
  
• Next you would want to put in the DVD cover/Screenshot or Pics of the image/images that you have uploaded to a file hoster and put the proper tags around them.
  
• Then posting a bit of info about the movie/video/picset is a good idea to do. (Only Required for Full Movies)
  
• After that you want to get your download links and paste them in the topic box.
  
• Then just code them like I told you how to do.

That's all you really need to provide.

So I'm going to give you an idea how it would look when finished with all the tags added and whatnot.

Now how did I exactly come to post the way that I did?
Well, I'm going to walk you through that below.

Starting off from the beginning to the end...Gonna show you screenshots of the tags and whatnot
to see how I came to having it look as it does.



and the second half...






Notice that I have put the name of the Girl followed by the name of the video and decided to do a Size 5 with Bold and Underlined text. Notice the center tag to start my text in the topic box? I wanted to center everything in this post so I put that first... Then at the end you will see that I put the other center tag at the end.

Next I put in the image for my screenshot. As you can see it has the image tags around it but not only that but url tags as well this makes the image clickable to view a larger image. This is the forum tags that are given when uploading to this image host.

Next I put in a bit of text right underneath the image letting one know that if they click the image they'll get a larger view and also see the video info.

Next I made a little text entitled "Description". I made this Size 4 with Bold and Underlined text.
I then put a little description of the video that I'll be posting.

Next I made a little text entitled "Media Info". I made this Size 4 with Bold and Underlined text.
I then added the info I got from the Media Info Tool by copy and pasting it. There is a tutorial on this located HERE
and then I'll highlight all the media info text and code it.

Note: Media Info is only required in your thread when dealing with HD Videos.

Next I made a little text entitled "Download". I made this Size 4 with Bold and Underlined text.

I then will put how many parts one would need to download and specifically state that it is indeed a single extraction.

What single extraction means is that you only need to extract once there is no containing rar files within that
need to be extracted. I then will show the size of the download links so when
one goes to download they will know the size.


Next I'll copy my download links and paste them and code them with the proper tags.

Then I will put some text that states whether or not there is a password or not. If there is a password required
make sure to post it in the topic box.

In this instance there is a password required so I made some text entitled "Password". I made this Size 4 with Bold and Underlined text. Next I put in the password to the file and wrapped code tags around it. Take note if a password is required for your files or not. Not providing a password when it is required is a huge NO, NO!

Now I'll just put a brief little addition. Hope you enjoy!! with a winking smiley.
I always leave my username as a sig at the very end.

Now since I wanted this whole post to be centered on the page I need to finish it off with the second half
of the center tag at the very end. This in turn will make the whole post centered.

Now all one would do is click on "Preview Post" at the bottom of the page.

Once you have previewed your post and made sure everything looks the way you want it to and all the proper tags have been put in, then just click "Post New Topic" or "Submit Modified Post" and your post will then be posted to the sub forum you have selected.

If you need to re-edit your post do so and make sure to always
preview again to make sure it looks the way you want.

Note: If you notice that you have made some errors after the fact that you posted your thread. You can always edit it anytime. First you would go to the Thread with your movie posted, go down to your post and go to the bottom and there will be a edit button. Click on it and you can now edit your post or thread.



To sum all this up, When writing in the Topic Box always add a name, followed by a image or images, a little info on what's being posted, Then add your download links and make sure to code them with the proper tags.

Well, this is the end of this tutorial. I'm sorry for this being so long but I just
wanted to do this step by step and make it easy to follow.

Making Screenshots



There are many applications around you can use to make screenshots of your videos. Such as: Image Grabber II, Video Snapshots Genius, Media Player Classic ect...Some of these applications can be quite a hassle to set up or require you to install more stuff just to use the software. Then after you install everything needed to find out that your OS does not support the application in the first place...I think that's just a pain in the ass...

Anyways, the application I'm gonna tell you how to use is "Media Player Classic" as it is very simple to use and also is a wonderful media player.

So get yourself a copy and come back.

Now...

Open the player. Go to view, then options as shown below.




The options window will pop up. Go to playback "output" click on it.
You'll be presented with this screen.

Locate "DirectShow Video" check "System Default", Click Apply, then OK.

Close the player and reboot the system for what you just did to take affect.

NOTE: Without doing the above you will get a error when trying to take a screenshot. So Do It!


Now, open the player again. Go to "file" and open a video file.

Now pause the video. Go to "file" again, Then select "Save Thumbnails". As shown below.




Once clicked on you will be presented with this screen below




Select a folder in which you want to save the screenshot.

Now on the bottom of the new window go to "Thumbnails"
Put how many rows you want then how many columns.
5x4 works.

Note: depending on the size of the movie/video you would adjust this accordingly.

Now go to "Image Width" and select 900 pixels. Give a file name and save as type Jpeg.


There you go, simple as that.


Note: screenshots will contain some movie info on the upper left of pic.
Which can be pretty nice.


Now I'm going to walk you through how to get this up on a image host...




Uploading to a Image Host.


First go to

http://www.imagebam.com/

and create a account when done log in, then come back and we will get started.

Now what you want to do is click "Basic Upload" and you will be presented with the screen below.




First click browse and locate the image you want to upload.
When you find it just click to highlight it and click open.

Now go down the page to "Select Type" and select Adult from the dropdown box.
Just keep the "Thumbnail Options" as they are.

With "Gallery Options" you can select from three options. "Create New Gallery" is what I did in this instance.
"Add to Existing Gallery" if you already made a folder named something you can add to it.
and then there is "Do not create gallery".

Since I chose create a new gallery I now need to put in a "Gallery Name" I just named it Temp,
name it whatever you so choose and then just click the upload button at the bottom.

The process of uploading your image will start.

Depending on how large the image is it may take some time or not much at all.
When finished you will be presented with this page below.

The black boxes are the codes you want to copy and paste into your thread.
(Both codes are the same)

Note: if you are uploading several images. The codes for each image
would show up on that upload page descending.


This is what the image would look like on the page.




If you click on it you will see that it is it's normal size and will notice from making the screenshot
that there is info about the video on the upper left hand corner as well.


Well that's all there is to that. Hope this helped you understand
how to make screenshots and upload images.
