How To: Get Video and Audio Details from Media Files.
There are certain instances when one would need to get the video and audio details from media files.
For instance to see the Codecs used, the Container used, Resolution,
Bits/(Pixel*Frame), frame rate, bitrate ect..
The reason for making this tutorial is mainly for the members who are going to be posting their
720p and 1080p Movies/Videos in the HD section but being able to get this info from
media files is great in many instances.
For example providing this information with your threads. For the ones who can read this info
they will be able to tell whether or not your share is worthy or not for them to download
and can be a big deciding factor.
I'll be sharing a couple of ways to get this information from Movies/Videos. One being from a
app called MediaInfo and the other simply through Media Player Classic.
Anyways, lets get down to it starting with MediaInfo.
Media Info
The app that we are going to use is called MediaInfo. You can get it from the link below.
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download
It's a free app and I assure you it is safe.
I have windows as my operating system so that is what I'm going to be working with.
When you get to the page above, simply click the Operating System that you use
and links to download will be presented on the page that pops up.
What you want to go with is the GUI. This is simply the application in a folder, no need to install,
all you do is open up the folder and run the exe file.
When you run the app for the first time you will be presented with this screen.

Simply select your language from the drop down box and then select Text in the "Output format" box.
Click ok and you will be presented with this screen.

Now click "File" then "Open" then "File" or simply press Ctrl + O. Select the movie/clip
that you want to get the video and audio details for and simply open it.
The information will be presented for your viewing as so.

This is the full info that it gives on the specific file that I'm working with.

Note: you can easily copy this info by simply copy and pasting or right click
and select "select all" then copy and paste.
After the initial setup of this tool. All you need to do is go to the video you want to get the
details for and simply right click on the file and select mediainfo from the box.
This way you do not have to open up MediaInfo manually every time.
This info is not required for you to post a thread in the regular sections (Only HD)
but it is a wonderful thing to add to any thread.
Media Player Classic.
To get the video and audio details through MPC then simply open the movie or video clip
in MPC and then go to file, then properties. Click on the MediaInfo tab
and simply copy and paste.
There is of course other applications and media players that can get the
video and audio details. These are just a couple of ways to get the info.
I hope this tutorial has been informative and that you found it helpful.
